Class Options, Starting September 28th:

Christian Ethics

 (Max Boelcke and Mike Littell)

The word "ethics" derives its name from the Greek word "ethos" which means "habit, custom, disposition." The purpose then of this ethics class is to learn how we can practically emulate the holy habits of Jesus, the wise customs of Jesus, and the meek disposition of Jesus. We will accomplish this task by considering the different virtues of our Savior and how he calls us to act and react to different ethical topics/situations.  Interactive approach with discussion.

Hebrews

(David Jacobsen, Mike Littell, Jordan Jacobsen, and Evan Greene)

chapters 6ff., continued from Spring 2025.  Exploration of the contrast between the imperfect and incomplete provisions of the old covenant (Moses), and the infinitely better provisions of the new covenant offered by the perfect high priest, God's only Son, the Messiah, Jesus Christ, including a better hope, a heavenly calling, a heavenly gift, and citizenship in the heavenly country, with emphasis on the final completion. Lecture with question and answer.

Women’s Class

(Becky Mills, Beth Callinan, Anne Jacobsen)

Fostering community through sharing, discussion, and prayer.  We will hear from different women in the church about what God has been teaching them, followed by small group discussion and a time of prayer

Gospel of Mark

(Jeff Wolff, Art Mosher)

Probably the earliest Gospel, Mark is definitely the shortest.   Mark introduces the term “Gospel”, meaning ‘good news, an epic-making event’ (1:1), and focuses immediately on Jesus Christ, the Son of God.  In fact, the word “immediately”, used repeatedly in Mark, shows the fast moving, event-centered pace of the Gospel.   The first of two parts (to be continued in the Winter).   Designed for those with relatively little knowledge of the Bible and for those who know the Scriptures well.   Interactive approach with discussion.

Possible College and Career Age Class

Doug is currently reaching out to individuals in our congregation who are in this age group. More information will be forthcoming. Questions should be directed to Doug Callinan.
